I started my career 24 years ago at Festoon Salon in Berkeley, the incubator for many of the East Bays premier salons. After 2 and a half years of apprenticeship school (GEBBCA) and simutaneously 3 models/week training program, I joined the Education Team for 6 years. I have been trained by Vidal Sassoons Sally Rogerson, Traci Sakotis, Tina Haukjaer Anderson Allison Lyle and Stephen Moody, Corinna Hernandez and Co, Loreal Color Academy NYC, Bumble and Bumble NYC, Davines Color Educators and many others. As a stylist, I listen for how I can personalize the design of all my cuts and color to be suited to your lifestyle and styling abilities. From brown to violet, short to long, I strive to help you feel amazing about your appearance and have an easy to style long lived hair accessory. As the owner and trainer of rising star stylists, I maintain a high standard of the technical service and a balance of the creative process to bring out the best outcomes. Ravi is our newly licenced Barber. He is a craftsman, painter, poet, photographer, gardener and animal lover. His journey started in 20024. Together they have built Salon La Luz into the warm and inviting salon that serves its diverse community. Join us in the salon space by booking a $45 Barber cut or a $25 shampoo blowdry with him to get to know him and his dedication to detail and aesthetic design, balance and symetry.

I've been in love with the craft of doing hair for the last 20 years~working in NYC and Seattle before landing happily in my forever 510 home some years ago. I am all about organic texture and new-romantic stylings or precision cutting. With my beautiful color formulas I endevor to help you put your most confident self out there for the world to admire. In addition to giving hair love- I also love making music, taking my ridiculous dog on long walk, riding bikes everywhere, crafting and helping my garden shift with the seasons.

Emilys favorite part of being a hairstylist is building connections and creating styles that help her clients feel great in their most lived in accessory. She has been doing hair for over 15 years in Portland, Austin, Houston and here in the Bay area. She specializes in razor cuts, short styles, bobs and barbering. Curly, wavy and lively hair is also a specialty. She looks forward to meeting you soon!
